Description
The Pemigewasset Woman’s Club was founded on June 26, 1897 and continued until the 1980s. The purpose of the club was to strengthen the moral, social, and intellectual life of its members, allow them to forces of good in their community. The club held multiple meetings and programs throughout the year including lectures, art shows, and other social events. The club officers included a president, 2 vice presidents, a recording secretary, a corresponding secretary, and a treasurer. They had about 7 committees: executive, social, lecture, education, civics, health, and music committees. The Pemigewasset Woman’s Club was a member of the NH State Woman’s Club Federation and the General Federation Woman’s Clubs, as well as the Society for Protection of New Hampshire Forests, NH Conference of Charities and Corrections.
